The Venus of Dolní Věstonice, a prehistoric figurine estimated to be up to 29,000 years old, has been temporarily removed from its secure depository and placed on public display by its curator in a specially designed case.
This exhibition, entitled Venus 100, is being held at the Dietrichstein Palace on Vegetable Market in Brno and marks the 100th anniversary of the figurine’s discovery. The exhibition will open to the public on the morning of Friday, June 20, 2025.
For the first time in its modern exhibition history, the figurine will be displayed in an upright position, offering visitors a unique opportunity to view it from all sides. Previously, the Venus was exhibited in a protective box that allowed only a frontal view, limiting the ability to appreciate its full form and craftsmanship.
Organized by the Moravian Museum, the exhibition will be open to the public until September 28, 2025.
We invite you to combine your visit to the Moravian capital with this exceptional opportunity to experience one of the world’s most remarkable prehistoric artifacts—an unparalleled representation of early ceramic production in human history.
