Research Focus at FunGlass Excellence Centre and CEITEC BUT

Teams of experienced and renowned researchers at FunGlass Excellence Centre and CEITEC BUT specialize in both basic and applied science tasks. Supported by an in-house state-of-the-art laboratory and testing equipment, their work is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and its practical applications.

G

Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass

FunGlass Centre is active in the field of development and characterization of new types of functional glasses with luminescent properties, replacement of rare earth elements by transition metals in inorganic glass based phosphors, research related to vitrification and immobilization of radioactive waste, and glass-fibres based insulation for nuclear-power plants. Key activities of the Centre include training and applied research to tap into a local know-how in development of the competitive advantage of the region by training skilled research personnel and by pursuing opportunities to establish partnership with regional and EU glass industries and international networking.

C

CEITEC BUT – Advanced Materials research groups

Three research groups (Advanced Multifunctional Ceramics, High Performance Materials and Coatings for Industry and Advanced Ceramic Materials) involved in the GlaCerHub project focus on the development of new processing routes for ceramic materials and the development of novel ceramic materials with enhanced properties, in particular biomaterials, structural ceramic materials and materials for energy and ecology. Investigation of the relationships between materials & coatings manufacturing technologies, material structure and its further modification towards high performance applications driven by industrial and societal requirements, advanced ceramic materials with functional properties, ballistic resistant ceramic and composite materials, biocompatible, biodegradable and bioactive ceramic materials, porous ceramic materials and advanced sintering methods of ceramic materials.

Pilots and
demonstrators

In the subsequent stages of the project, GlaCerHub management will develop an action plan outlining specific steps for creating technological pilots and demonstrators in collaboration with partners from local government and the third sector. This plan will also explore funding opportunities, addressing potential topics such as Pilot Line for PE-CVD Technologies (FunGlass), Pilot Line for Plasma Spray Technologies (CEITEC BUT), Pilot Lines for Supercritical Drying and Lyophilization in Inorganic Materials (CEITEC BUT)

Interships
and cotutelle

As part of our efforts to attract and develop talent, GlaCerHub runs:
Training and internship programmes.
Opportunities for ambitious talents to pursue a double degree (cotutelle).
In collaboration with experts from JCMM, JIC and industry partners, GlaCerHub offers exceptional opportunities for personal development and specialised training.
