The CLiCAM project has launched its Virtual Test Beds – an online catalogue designed to connect companies and other users with advanced infrastructure, specialised expertise and technological capabilities across the project consortium.
The development of the Virtual Test Beds Online Catalogue also benefited from the involvement of researchers participating in the GlaCerHub project, particularly from FunGlass at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín and CEITEC BUT. Their contribution represents another example of how cooperation between complementary European projects can help connect research expertise with practical industrial needs.
The Virtual Test Beds bring together the complementary capacities of four academic partners and seven industrial partners involved in CLiCAM project. Their aim is to help companies identify the right expertise, equipment and technological support for specific materials and process-related challenges.
Rather than representing a single physical facility, the Virtual Test Beds form a distributed network of research and industrial capabilities, covering the pathway from material and process development to characterisation, testing and experimental validation. Activities are focused primarily on research, development and validation up to TRL 4–5.
The catalogue is structured around two main areas:
Materials & Coatings
Advanced materials, functional coatings and surface treatments supported by technologies including thin-film processing, plasma technologies, PVD/PECVD, electrochemistry and thermal spraying.

Material Preparation & Additive Manufacturing
Material and feedstock preparation for additive manufacturing, from process development and optimisation to component production, characterisation and testing.

By combining the expertise of universities, research organisations and industrial partners, the Virtual Test Beds reflect one of the key ambitions of CLiCAM: to strengthen cooperation between academia and industry and make advanced technological capabilities more accessible for practical innovation challenges.
The catalogue is intended not only as an overview of available infrastructure, but also as a starting point for collaboration.
