The three-day training will take place from 16 to 18 September 2026 at the Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, AULA B1.00, Študentská 2, Trenčín.

The event is designed to strengthen participants’ entrepreneurial, strategic, and business-oriented skills and to provide practical tools for transforming innovative ideas and research results into sustainable business opportunities. The programme combines theoretical knowledge, practical exercises, interactive discussions, and collaborative learning, creating an environment in which participants can explore the challenges of entrepreneurship and strategic management in practice.

What can participants expect?

Throughout the three days, participants will have the opportunity to explore key aspects of business development and strategic management, including:

  • Business plan preparation – learning how to structure and develop a clear, convincing, and realistic business plan, from defining the business idea and value proposition to identifying target markets, competitors, resources, and financial requirements.
  • Strategic decision-making – developing the ability to analyse business situations, evaluate different strategic options, and make informed decisions in a changing and competitive environment.
  • CAPSIM Capstone Simulation – participating in an interactive business simulation in which teams manage a virtual company and make strategic decisions affecting its performance and development. The simulation will allow participants to experience the complexity of running a technology-oriented business and to see the consequences of their decisions in a practical and risk-free environment.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and leadership – exploring the mindset, skills, and approaches needed to identify opportunities, take initiative, manage uncertainty, and lead innovative projects and teams.
  • Innovation management – understanding how innovation can be transformed into viable products, services, and business opportunities and how organisations can create conditions that support innovation.
  • Financing opportunities – gaining an overview of different approaches to financing business activities and innovation, including the considerations that entrepreneurs should take into account when seeking financial resources for their projects.

A particular highlight of the programme will be the CAPSIM Capstone Simulation, which will encourage participants to work in teams and make a series of interconnected strategic and operational decisions. Participants will be able to experience how decisions related to areas such as marketing, production, finance, research and development, and overall business strategy can influence the performance and competitiveness of a company.

The training is particularly relevant for researchers, PhD students, academics, innovators, and other participants interested in entrepreneurship, innovation, technology transfer, and the commercialisation of research results. It will also provide an opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas with other participants and to develop a better understanding of how research and innovation can be connected with real-world business opportunities.
