Three Days of Strategy, Simulation and Entrepreneurial Thinking

Three Days of Strategy, Simulation and Entrepreneurial Thinking

The three-day training “Business Plan Preparation / Strategic Decision Making, and Entrepreneurial Spirit” has successfully come to an end.

Participants of this event combined practical learning with hands-on exercises, strategic challenges, teamwork and plenty of opportunities for discussion and collaboration.

The training focused on equipping participants with practical tools and knowledge for developing business ideas, making strategic decisions and turning research and innovation into viable entrepreneurial opportunities.

From Strategy to Action with CAPSIM

A central part of the training was the CAPSIM Capstone 2.0 business simulation, which gave participants the opportunity to experience the challenges of managing a technology-driven company in a competitive market. Working in teams, participants made strategic and operational decisions across different areas of their virtual companies and experienced first-hand how individual decisions can influence overall business performance.

Across five simulation rounds, the teams progressively developed their strategies while considering areas such as R&D, marketing, finance, human resources and operations. The simulation was complemented by facilitator guidance, discussions and reflections, allowing participants to analyse their results and learn from both successful and challenging decisions.

Financial Planning and Multifunctional Decision-Making

The second part of the training introduced participants to the fundamentals of financial planning and company valuation, with a particular focus on technology startups and research-based ventures.

Participants also explored the complexity of multifunctional decision-making. Through group discussions and practical scenarios, they had to balance decisions across several areas of a company simultaneously, demonstrating how interconnected business functions are and how strategic choices can affect the entire organisation.

Innovation Leadership and Entrepreneurial Spirit

The final day turned the focus towards innovation leadership and entrepreneurial pathways. Participants explored how to foster innovation in research environments, strengthen leadership skills and identify opportunities for transforming university research into entrepreneurial ventures.

Learning Through Collaboration

Throughout the three days, participants actively engaged in group work, discussions, practical exercises and team-building activities. This combination of theory and practice created an interactive learning environment in which participants could not only acquire new knowledge but also test their decision-making skills and learn from one another.

We would like to thank all participants for their active involvement, fruitful discussions and enthusiasm throughout the training. Our special thanks go to Dr. Erik Kubička for sharing his knowledge, experience and practical insights into strategic management, entrepreneurship and business development.

We look forward to meeting participants again at the next training, “Introduction to Intellectual Property Rights for Future Innovation Leaders & Technology Transfer Awareness,” which will take place on 30 September–2 October 2026.
